Oklahoma State Necklace

Connor and family are from Oklahoma and love the state! I had the pleasure of working with his mom, who is originally from California, so I started after his name with a bear, like from the Cali State Flag. Connor's dad loves the beautiful Oklahoma sunsets, so the first sections was inspired by this picture that his dad picked out.
The next section starts with a blue cat a represents the Oklahoma state flag:

The purple dinosaur is the APATOSAURUS, the state fossil of Oklahoma:

The yellow cow is for the cattle and other animals you can find all around Oklahoma and the colors following represent the prairies that Connor's mom loves so much:

The green train is for the railroads in Oklahoma and the colors following are for the state flower, the Indian Blanket:

The last section is green and white, the Oklahoma State colors!

I learned a great deal from making this necklace and hope to continue making the state ones until I have all 50 states!

Jane's Family Story

I had the privilege of working with a wonderful mother, Jane, to create this beautiful necklace that tells the story of her family. Jane's family story starts with the yellow heart which represents Jane's heart as it is full of love for her home country of Ireland, her family, and herself. Her favorite colors are yellow and purple, which I mixed in with greens to reflect some of the beauty of her Ireland. The seal represents the Grey seals because Ireland has a special responsibility towards the well-being of Grey seal colonies, with half the European population found around the country's coast.
The section that follows was inspired by Jane's description of the sea, "the Irish Sea at it's best, wild with white caps and lots of foam upon the shore line. I love Autumn windy wild days by the Sea front. It's enough to take Your breath away. Wish You could experience that Yourself, truly one of life's real pleasures." I found this picture of the Irish Sea for added inspiration. The next section starts with Joe, Jane's husband, and one of his loves- fishing! He likes the color blue and since they met when he was in the US Air Force, I thought it only fitting to add red, white, and blue to his! The yellow cow is for Joe's home state of South Dakota and the cattle that roam there. That section represents the wind swept prairie of his beloved state. Their two children love cats and turtles and the sections has their favorite colors in it. The last section is for Jane's unborn baby whose name shall remain unspoken until the birth as it is an old Irish custom. The dolphin is an animal that Jane has come to associate with the baby and the colors: green, white, and orange are of course the colors of the Irish Flag. It was a pleasure to work with Jane to create this tool and keepsake for her and her family.
